How to Create a Holistic Marketing ApproachApr 05, 2021
Does marketing ever seem confusing to you? If so, you’re not alone. People throw the word marketing around so much, that sometimes its true definition can get lost. At its core, the definition of marketing is simply the process of attracting people who are your ideal client to your products and services. Sounds simple right?
Well anyone who’s in marketing or has done marketing in the past knows that’s not always the case. Effective marketing is one of the big reasons why most businesses close within the first five years. No new leads, no sales. No sales, no business.
So how do you make sure that you don’t become a business casualty? By having a solid marketing plan. That means making sure that all of your content, branding, design, etc. all map to the same desired goal . . . more potential customers. So let's take a look at the areas you’ll want to assess to create a holistic approach to your marketing strategy.
The first thing you are going to want to do is marketing research. If you’re going to create a holistic plan to generate more leads, you need to know where those leads predominately “hang out.” You can’t be everywhere, so pick 2-3 places that make the most sense for your business right now.
Marketing on social media is never easy. It takes time to build a community, and this is definitely a more organic, long-term approach. Social media, however, is a great place to funnel people into platforms that you own, say your blog, podcast, or email list. Maybe you make that your goal to pull people in with your content, then funnel them somewhere else.
The second thing you’ll want to do is create a marketing plan template. This is a rough draft of what your overall plan is going to look like. So maybe you decide that your two platforms are Instagram and YouTube. From there, you want to figure out a way to funnel them to your freebie, into your email list, to sell them a course after the 5th email. That’s your marketing plan template.
Lastly, you’re going to want to create what I like to call a “marketing network.” You hear it time and time again, you’re a byproduct of your association (and it’s true). Knowing this, surround yourself with other people who you can learn from, bounce ideas off of, and grow with. Iron sharpens iron.
Creating a holistic marketing approach is paramount if you're going to succeed long-term in business. Your audience exists everywhere, and as such, you need to as well.
