3 Business Foundations You Need In Place to Be Successful In Business

A lot of people think business success comes down to big deals, signing huge clients, or making big sales on your products . . . and while yes, those things are nice, the real success of your business will come down to one thing: the foundations that you have set in your business.

What do I mean by "foundations?"  I mean the things you strategize for before you even ever sell a product or service.  Usually even before you start blogging, building a website, or posting on social media.  The reason is that these foundational steps I'm talking about setting the tone for all the other things in your business.  So today, I want to talk to you about 3 core business foundations that every business owner should have solidified in their business if they're going to be successful in 2022!

The first foundation you want to make sure and have in place is you really want to nail down your niche and your unique selling proposition.  I'm sure niching down isn't new news to any business owner out there, but most business owners never take it a step further and figure out their USP.

Your USP basically says why someone should buy your product or service over another person that sells the SAME product or service.  In essence: why you?  And there can be a bunch of different answers to this question, but if you don't know why you should buy from yourself, why would a potential customer?

So first start by figuring out your niche, then really figure out why you're different than the competition.  Do you offer a better product?  Do you have more expertise than the others?  Whatever the case may be, make sure that you're highlighting WHY you're a better option in the eyes of your audience.

After you've figured out your niche and your USP, you're going to want to tackle your branding.  And before you start picking colors and fonts, I'm talking more about the inner working of branding, BEFORE the fonts, texts, and logos.

Before you can know what colors to choose and what colors would resonate with your audience, you need to first figure out things like the values and the voice of your brand.  What does your brand stand for?  What values are most important to you?  How can I convey these things through my content?

These are the types of questions you will need to answer because the answers to these questions are what will help you figure out things like your logos and your colors.  Because if you know what you stand for, you'll know who you're trying to attract, and therefore you'll know what are the best colors and fonts to do this.

Now that you've figured out your niche, your USP, and your branding, you can start to begin to build out a social media strategy for your business.  This means doing market research to figure out what platforms your audience spends the most time on.  Then you'll want to figure out the answers to these questions:

  • What platforms are the best to be on for my business?
  • Should I focus on just one platform?
  • Or should I be on multiple platforms?
  • How will I repurpose my content?

These are just a few of the questions you'll want to ask yourself when building a social media strategy for your business.  Just remember, the main thing is consistency, so don't overdo it when it comes to your strategy.  If you can only handle one platform, that's fine.  Start there, then expand when you feel like you can!
