Why Pinterest Is a Social Media Platform Every Business Owner Should Be OnDec 13, 2021
I'm going to start this off by saying we were waaaaaaay late to the Pinterest party, like only got on in 2021 kinda late (really late), so we're completely guilty of this as well. I guess we, just like everyone else we see, don't really know the power that Pinterest can have for a business, until you actually get in there, create content, and start seeing those results! So I want to help you get set up today with a Pinterest account, nothing crazy, just help you set one up so you can begin to see what Pinterest can do for your business!

When creating your profile, you want to make sure that when it comes to choosing your interests on Pinterest (that rhymed lol) that they are interests pertaining to or related to your business. Why is that? Because Pinterest isn't just about you creating great content, it's about you sharing other people's great content as well!
It is much easier to do this if all the content you need to share from other people is nicely and neatly located throughout your home feed. The thing that ISN'T fun is if you choose random interests, then when it comes time to find content, you have to search keywords and go down rabbit holes just to find what you're looking for.
The second thing you're going to want to do is to optimize your profile. This is important more so for Pinterest than any other platform, because Pinterest, like a blog, like Google, is searchable. This means that if you write a great profile with keywords related to your industry, your Pinterest profile may pop up on page 1!
So really take the time when you're thinking of your profile name, bio, your about, etc. All of these places you need to make sure are written with keywords and optimized for search so that you can take advantage of being found!
The third thing you're going to want to do is simple, and that is you're going to want to change your account from a personal one to a business one. The main reason for this is you want access to all the amazing analytics that you get with Pinterest business!
As business owners, we HAVE TO have access to social media analytics, because we need to see what's working, what is our audience resonating with, what gets them to click the most, etc. So make sure before you start posting you change over your profile to a business one!
The fourth thing is more of a suggestion, and less how to optimize your account, but it is to focus and pay the most attention to "Idea Pins" on Pinterest! We're all about saving business owners time and NOT adding a million things to their plate. That being said, we always teach business owners to focus on the type of social media content that gets them the most bang for their buck, and that is "Idea Pins."
Not surprisingly, short-form video is being pushed out on all platforms, so by using "Idea Pins," you're taking advantage of the content that Pinterest wants to push out the most! So that would be my advice to you for Pinterest, or any other social media platform for that matter is to focus on making the content that they want you to make the most!
