3 Easy Ways to Monetize On Pinterest

Pinterest isn't anything new.  If you look, Pinterest has been around since 2010, and in fact, it even existed BEFORE Instagram.  Yet very few people think of Pinterest in terms of a social media platform that they can monetize for a business.  Most simply think it's a platform for DIYs, home decor, and recipes.  And while yes, it is a platform for those things (all of which we LOVE), over the past 2-3 years it has shifted into much more than that . . .

 

Now, more than ever, business owners are utilizing Pinterest as the main hub for their business, as well as creating revenue in a bunch of different ways.  Today, I wanted to highlight 3 easy ways I believe you could start monetizing your Pinterest account.  This article is for someone looking to monetize for the first time, but also for people that have monetized before!  Maybe there will be something on this list that you'd never thought of.

The first, and probably most obvious way to monetize your Pinterest account is to become an affiliate marketer or do brand deals on products that you already use, know, and love.  The easiest way to figure this out is to look back through your Pinterest content and ask yourself these questions:

• What products do I use regularly in my Pinterest content?

• What brands do I really love?  Why do I love them?

• What brands would I feel comfortable endorsing?

Once you have the answers to these questions, you can start to reach out to brands via email for brand deals.  If you want to go an easier route, you can sign up to be an Amazon affiliate, then start linking products for people to shop, and you'll get a percentage.  Either way, brand deals, and affiliate marketing are great ways for people to start to monetize their social media platforms!

The second way is to link your products if you're a product-based business.  Wow, revolutionary I know lol!  But the reason I mention this is because most business owners get this concept completely wrong.  What most business owners do is link their products on their Pinterest page, then forget about them, and hope people will buy.

A better alternative is to link your products, but then create graphics and idea pins showcasing the product, how to use it, tips, etc. with a call-to-action to click and buy that specific product.  People love to buy, but they don't want to be sold to.  By showing people HOW to use your products, you're taking the selling out of it, and in its place educating people on their benefits.

The third easy way to monetize your Pinterest is for service-based businesses.  What you're going to do is take all the testimonials that you have, the video being preferred, and start to put them up on Pinterest, with a call-to-action to whatever service you provided for that specific person.

You're going to want to do the following:

• Reach out to everyone who's taken a course, bought a PDF, been coached by you, etc.

• Ask them if they'd be comfortable doing a video testimonial

• Let them know you'll tag them for extra exposure from your socials

• Rinse and repeat

This strategy alone is how we helped a business coach sell over $250K worth of digital products in ONE YEAR!  It's amazing what can happen if you simply ask!  Why are we so afraid to ask the people that we've helped if they're willing to help us?

Don't be afraid to ask for testimonials!  If they're uncomfortable doing a video, then a written one will work just fine.  Just make sure of this: make sure that their testimonial talks about three things:

• The pain points they were experiencing BEFORE they worked with you

• What the process was like working with you

• How you were able to alleviate their pain points through your product
