Answering Your MOST Asked Pinterest Questions

Closing out our series on Pinterest, we realize that people probably have A LOT of questions, and they want answers!  So we took the top questions we got asked over the past week regarding Pinterest and put them into this blog, so hopefully your most pressing Pinterest questions get answered!

If you'd rather watch the YouTube video, then click HERE!

One of the main questions that we get asked all the time is, "How often should I be pinning and creating content on Pinterest?"  Well, there are two answers to that question.  The first is that according to Pinterests' best practices, you should be posting 30 pieces of content a day, 15 of them being your own original content, and 15 others being curated content from others that adds to your own content.

The second answer (because that's a lot of content!), is to just start doing what you can when you can.  It is way better to be consistently creating 5 pieces of content a day regularly than to try and meet those high demands, only to burn yourself out. P.S. Just for context, we have a client who posts 5 times a day on her Pinterest, and she gets over 3.3M monthly views, so ya know, it's not all about quantity . . .

I sort of already answered the second question, which was how much of my content should be my own vs. other people's, but you want a 50/50 split, however much content you're creating.  The reason is that Pinterest doesn't want your profile to be YOUR highlight reel, they want it to be a place where people can come to get ALL the best information on your particular topic.  So make sure that your profile represents that!

The next question is about the size of the pins you create.  It used to be that they had to be 1000x1500, or else Pinterest would penalize you, and not push your content out.  That is no longer the case, as you can now post in 1:1 ratio, which is the same as Instagram.

The fourth question was this: should I be using group boards or engagement boards to grow my Pinterest account?  I would say "No" if it's an engagement group, where people are simply sharing your content because they have to in order to get engagement for themselves.  I would say "Yes" if it's through Tailwind Communities, where you can put your content up on community boards, and people have a CHOICE whether they want to share it or not.  It's not engagement for engagement.

The fifth question sort of ties in with the fourth, and that is this: is Tailwind worth it?  And my answer would be an absolute yes!  I mentioned Communities above, which are a great feature and way to grow your Pinterest account, not to mention all the analytics and scheduling and other tools that Tailwind has, it is well worth the money.  It is a little pricey, but if you're serious about using Pinterest for your business, then it's the only option.

The sixth question is a great one because we really used to struggle with this as well.  The question is: how do I get people to click on my links more from my Pinterest posts?  I think the best way to do this is to offer them something additional to what you're offering in your Pinterest post.  That doesn't mean just putting up a post with an "eh" caption saying go here, it means you have to have a great graphic with great info, that gives people a reason to want to click your link for more.

The last question revolves around hashtags and should still be using them for Pinterest.  Pinterest has said that hashtags don't mean as much as they used to, but that you still do get an initial push from using them, so I would say to still use them.  We typically will use 3-5, so that it doesn't look/feel spammy.  The last thing you want to do is spam the caption box with nothing but hashtags.

Hopefully, this blog was helpful in answering your Pinterest questions, but we also have something special for you if you're looking to continue learning about ways to grow and scale your business!
