How TikTok Changed Our Business, And How It Can Change Yours TooApr 07, 2022
Is your business on TikTok? If not, why not? If you are, how much effort are you putting into it? Because today we're talking about TikTok, and I'm here to tell you that TikTok CAN change your business and you're life. I can say that because it did exactly that for us!
So today, we want to share our TikTok journey, what it has done for our business, and some tips on how you can start to use TikTok to grow your business presence online!
TikTok was the first place we ever went viral. We had an Instagram for a while, but it was growing really slowly, and after watching TikTok religiously for six months, we decided to start our own. During that time we had also been learning the best ways to create TikTok's to give ourselves the best chance to go viral . . . basically, doing our research on how we could best use the platform.
Everything at the time we were reading said post 6 TikTok's every single day if you really want to grow on the platform. So we said that we'd try it out for 30 days and see what happened . . .
Needless to say, that was the best decision we ever made.
We grew over 100K followers, and so many other things came from that which we'll talk about a little later, but during that 30-day period, we had 4 videos go over 1M, and I believe 11 videos over 100K, which was crazy for us to see!
The second thing TikTok did for us was gain us local business. I always knew that TikTok first pushed out your videos locally and as it got more engagement, it would get pushed out more . . . I just never really took the time to think, "Okay, that means the people I see around me all the time!"
So when people started to recognize us, contacting us saying they saw us on TikTok, it made us a little nervous, because if you watch them, we're a LITTLE unfiltered sometimes to say the least, and I know that in the eyes of a lot of people that can seem unprofessional . . .
But the response was actually the opposite! People said they loved our videos and business owners loved the fact that we knew how to leverage the trending social media platform of the moment. It gave us credibility because if we can grow there, we can grow anywhere!
The third thing being on TikTok did was it grew our other social media accounts, and by a lot. Our Instagram still keeps growing as I'm writing this because of our TikTok, and the same with our YouTube channel! TikTok is a great place for new followers to get an introduction to you, and then based on their needs, be funneled to either Instagram or YouTube (or your website).
Simply by having a TikTok, you're giving people on the platform a chance to find out more about you AND more importantly, find your other social media accounts!
The fourth thing TikTok did for us that we never envisioned happening was that it built a whole new income stream for us! What I'm talking about is affiliate marketing/brand deals. I still remember, Jill did a TikTok about the leggings that went viral on there showing what they looked like, and through our Amazon affiliate link there were more than a thousand pairs sold!
I can't remember how much income came from it, but over time, the total became substantial! It makes sense though, if people know, like, and trust you, plus you're showing them the product through video, why would they not choose to buy?
So if that's a route you've ever thought about going, then TikTok is going to be a great place for you. We just showcase any products based on how we use them in our everyday life, nothing special, and definitely nothing salesy!
The last thing being on TikTok did was it gave us confidence that we could do anything. If we're being honest, most people struggle to grow on TikTok because it can be a difficult platform to understand, but the fact that we did it, we stayed consistent, did what we said we were going to do and were able to grow that much because of it:
We couldn't ask for anything more.
We now look at every new challenge we face and know that we can do it. We may not know the HOW right then, but we know that if we can create 180 videos in 30 days, and build that kind of audience in that short amount of time: we can do anything.
